If you do not pass the comprehensive final exam on your first try, don't worry — you get more than one attempt. The final exam requires 70% to pass (you can miss no more than 30% of the questions).
Retaking the Final Exam
If you score below 70%, you can retake the exam with a different set of questions drawn from the test bank. You are not required to repeat the entire course before retaking, though you may review the material first — we recommend going back over the topics tied to the questions you missed.
The Three-Attempt Limit
You have up to three attempts to pass the comprehensive final exam. This limit is set by Texas rule (16 TAC §84.503(d)(4)): if you fail the final exam three times, you fail the course.
Review Before You Retake
After a failed attempt, revisit the lesson content that covers the questions you missed. A solid understanding of Texas traffic laws and safe-driving rules will help you pass the course exam and the DPS written test.
