How Long Is the Course?

The Texas adult driver education course is a six-hour online course. That is the entire requirement — there is no behind-the-wheel component and no driving log. The six hours of instruction are organized into eight self-paced lessons.

Six Hours of Instruction

Texas requires a minimum amount of instructional time for the adult course. Our course meets that requirement and tracks your active learning time as you go. You must be actively engaged with the material — simply leaving a page open will not count, and the timer pauses during inactivity and resumes when you return.

Work at Your Own Pace

Because the course is online, you complete it on your own schedule. Study for 20 minutes or a couple of hours at a time — it is entirely up to you. Your progress is saved automatically, so you can stop and pick up where you left off on any device.

How Long It Takes Most People

Since the course is only six hours, many adults finish it over a few days or a single weekend. There is no minimum number of days you must spread it across, but you do need to meet the instructional time requirement, so you cannot rush through it instantly.

180-Day Access Window
Your course access lasts 180 days (about six months) from your purchase date. This is plenty of time for a six-hour course. (The 180-day window is our access policy, not a Texas legal deadline.)
