What do I need to do?
The Impact Texas Adult Drivers program (ITAD) is a free, 1 hour informational video that shares the dangers of distracted driving along with real life stories of teens that have lost their lives. It is provided by the Texas DPS, not Happy Drivers Ed. You have 90 days from the date you successfully complete the program to pass the driving skills exam. You MUST bring your valid certificate of completion of this program to the DPS or third party driving test provider at the time you are administered your driving test. The course can be accessed from this web address: https://impacttexasdrivers.dps.texas.gov/ITAD/.
How do I do it?
- Schedule your Driving Test Appointment at a nearby DPS
- If the DPS is booked for a long time you may be able to schedule a driving test at a local driving school.
- You only have the option of testing at a Driving School if you have your Learner License

- Sign up for the ITAD Program (Make sure to use the same name you used for your certificate)
- Create an account
- The ITTD course is completely separate from the Happy Drivers Ed course. You will need to create a new account.
- When registering it will ask you for driver education type, select TDLR Number, and then “C3476”
- Complete the ITAD Program and print a paper copy of your certificate.
- The certificate must be dated within 90 days of the drive test.

ITAD Certificate Questions
- I can’t find my ITAD Certificate
- Login to your ITAD account to view your certificate.
- When do I receive my ITAD Certificate?
- After completing the ITAD course you will be emailed a certificate. Print out this certificate and take it to the DPS when you are taking your driving test. If your certificate is not emailed to you, login to your ITAD account to view it.
- Does the ITAD Certificate expire?
- Yes! Your Certificate expires 90 days after receiving it. Make sure to take your driving test before it expires or you’ll be required to take the course again and a get a new certificate.
Quick Tips
- If you do not pass your driving test, you will be required to complete the ITAD program again.
- Schedule your driving test first, so you know your certificate date will be valid.
- You don’t have to complete the 1 hour video all at once, there are 3 different sections.
